Our lives seem to be run by numbers. In order to get to know another person, all you have to do is to get them to spout some figures for you. When did you graduate from high school? How many children do you have? How long have you lived here? How long have you worked at your current job? Or, how long have you been retired? I could go on and on.
You can easily tell where someone lives, by getting their zip code or area code. I think of (Beverly Hills) as a very, very nice area. What is the zip of No Where, New Mexico?

Weight, now that is one number that is near to home, for all of us. Why I think as we walk down the street digits go thru our minds. Oops, there goes a woman who weighs in at about 105. I know the number of my weight is a lot more than what I am willing to admit
Age is another number that goes thru your mind. Remember when you could not wait to get into your teens? Also, what about that big day when you turned 21 (If you can remember back that far!)? Forty was a rather iffy number and 60 was a hard hit. I am beginning to think that I will bump into 90 before I feel really old. Even at that point, I won't feel really ancient. At least in my mind, I am stuck at 22. This is true!!! Now I understand why hope springs eternal.
You can tell a lot about people by having them answer the following questions: How many houses? Vacation homes? Bedrooms? Bathrooms? Cars? Boats? Exes? Plastic surgeries? The higher the number the more wealth you have or the more you owe.
Your personal numbers: What is your blood pressure? Cholesterol? Weight? IQ? Total savings? Total bank account? Drivers license number? Social Security number? Number of credit cards? Credit card numbers? Credit card debt? Car license plate? Address? Plot number? Etc.
Then there is your kitchen: How cold is your freezer? Your fridge? Your wine cellar? Number settings for your microwave? Juicer? Blender? Bread maker? Oven? Dishwasher? Coffee pot? Toaster? Crock Pot? Place settings of dishes? Silverware? Flatware? I am sure that you can think of more.
Well, it looks like numbers are here to stay. Yes, they really do make our life easier and the flip side, our lives harder. Go figure.
